Southwark Theatres

There are a number of theatres operating in Southwark providing a wide range of different types of performance. Details of some of these are listed below:

The Blue Elephant Theatre – a 50 seat fringe theatre established in 1999 by Antonio Ribeiro.

The Menier Chocolate Factory  – an award-winning 180 seat off-West End theatre.

Shakespeare’s Globe  – a reconstruction of the Globe Theatre, an Elizabethan playhouse on the south bank of the Thames.

Southwark Playhouse Theatre Company – founded in 1993 to meet a need for a high quality accessible theatre which would also act as a major resource for the community

The Old Vic – located just south-east of Waterloo Station in London on the corner of The Cut and Waterloo Road – the 176 bus stops outside.

The Unicorn Theatre – the UK’s leading theatre for audiences aged 2–21.
